ANGELES CITY — Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin, Jr. said his administration will adopt the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency’s ‘Oplan Harabas’, or the mandatory drug testing for all drivers in public terminals.
This is to ensure that his kababayans are safe from drugged drivers, and to promote a drug-free public transport throughout the city.
At the same time, Lazatin is urging the new city Council led by Vice Mayor Vicenta “Vicky” Vega-Cabigting, to pass an Ordinance for the mandatory drug testing of public transport drivers.
“We will continue to intensify our efforts against illegal drugs,“ Lazatin said.
In fact, the conduct of drug-clearing operations will be continuous through the Angeles City Anti-Drug Abuse Council (ACADAC), together with the Angeles City Police Office, Department of the Interior and Local Government, and PDEA.
“We will make sure that all our Barangay Anti-Drug Abuse Councils are functional and in coordination with the city’s anti-drug abuse council,” Lazatin said.
Aside from this, Lazatin will strengthen and expand the Balay Silangan Reformation Center to accommodate and transform identified drug users into productive citizens.
