Lazatin to lead groundbreaking for 2,450 homes

ANGELES CITY, PHILIPPINES – Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr. is set to lead the groundbreaking ceremony for a 2,450-unit socialized housing project under the Pambansang Pabahay Program (4PH) on February 27, 2025, in Barangay Mining.

The project will consist of ten six-story buildings, each housing 245 residential units. It will also feature 200 car parking slots, 680 motorcycle parking spaces, a village market, a clubhouse, and a transport terminal, aiming to create a self-sustaining community for beneficiaries.

This initiative aligns with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s goal of building one million housing units per year, prioritizing multi-story developments to address urban housing shortages.

Under a partnership with the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD), the city government will provide the land, while DHSUD will oversee implementation. The city will also handle the listing, social preparation, and socio-economic profiling of beneficiaries.

Lazatin thanked President Marcos Jr. and DHSUD Secretary Jose Acuzar for making the project possible, calling it a rare opportunity for Angeleños to access affordable housing.

Since taking office in 2019, Lazatin has prioritized housing, awarding 1,962 certificates of lot allocation and distributing 787 land titles to urban poor families through the Angeles City Human Settlement and Urban Development Office, led by City Councilor Atty. Arvin Suller.

The office, originally the Local Urban Poor and Housing Affairs Office, was first established under the administration of Lazatin’s father, former First District Representative Carmelo “Tarzan” Lazatin.

The February 27 ceremony will mark the start of a major housing initiative that reflects Lazatin’s commitment to providing accessible, dignified, and secure homes for Angeleños—continuing the legacy of his late father.
