Mabalacat City– More than 3,000 athletes from 27 local colleges and universities in the Philippines have joined the hype of the national athletic meet hosted by Mabalacat City College here from April 14 to 21.
Dubbed as National ALCU Games, this year’s theme is ‘Going stronger, Moving faster, Celebrating Excellence’ which aims to gather the finest sports enthusiasts and build strong camaraderie among other participations institutions. It was in 2009 when the Association of Local Colleges and Universities Athletic Association launched the alculympics
This is in time with the decennial celebration of the said college since its foundation in 2008 and the 10th year of ALCU-AA.
Delegates are from Bulacan Polytechnic College, City College of Angeles, City College of Calapan, City College of San Fernando, City College of Tagaytay, City of Malabon University, Dalubhasaan ng Lungsod ng San Pablo, Gordon College, Gov. Alfonso Tan College, Kolehiyo ng Lungsod ng Lipa, Mandaue City College, Pamantasan ng Cabuyao, Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Marikina, Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila, University of Makati, Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Muntinlupa, Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Valenzuela, Pateros Technological College, Polytechnic College of City of Meycauayan, Taguig City University, Universidad de Manila, University of Caloocan City, University of the Philippines-Manila, Urdaneta City University, Valenzuela Polytechnic College
On April 15 to 20 is the long duration of sports events including athletics, basketball, arnis, badminton, cheering, dance sport, football, futsal, karatedo,rugby, sepak takraw, swimming, table tennis, taekwondo and volleyball.
Set on April 19 is the Mr. and Ms. ALCUAA coronation night in Xevera Plaza in Mabalacat City.
On April 21 is the closing and turn-over ceremonies to be led by ALCUU Chairman Dominador Lera and MCC President Dr. Carmelita Sotto.
Also highlighted is the city’s vibrant culture and heritage, tourists’ destinations like Aqua Planet, one of the biggest and most-modern waterpark in Asia, the serene and clear waters of Haduan Falls and the delectable Kapampangan home specialties of My Lola Nor’s Meryendahan known for its ‘putung-babi and batirol’.
