Mabalacat vice mayoral bet wants ‘transparency’

MABALACAT CITY — Councilor and Vice Mayoral candidate Jun Castro said he will instill “transparency in legislation” in the Mabalacat City Council as a way to get rid of corruption in the government.

Castro, is running in tandem with Vice Mayor Geld Aquino, who is contesting the mayorship against incumbent Mayor Cris Garbo. He said transparency in the legislative will contain possible corruption that may occur.

Castro said the public hearings of the Mabalacat City Council will be done live so that the Mabalacat residents will be kept abreast of what was happening in the local government unit.

Castro said transparency will erase doubts on the LGU’s dealings because hearings will be recorded and done live on Facebook. Castro said it is the right of the people to know where their taxes are going to. Public service should be given emphasis, according to Castro.

Castro was then head of the Committee on Appropriations when he was unceremoniously removed from his post last year. Outnumbered, Castro had filed a case against his fellow Council members and Mayor Garbo at the Ombudsman.

Castro is favored to win the 2025 polls as residents seek positive changes in Mabalacat governance. –APSP
