MACABEBE, Pampanga – The Local Government Unit (LGU) led by Mayor
Annette Flores Balgan last week launched the automated
electronic Business Permit and Licensing System (e-BPLS), benefitting
more than 500 businesses here.
The eBPLS used by The LGU was developed by the Department of
Information and Communications Technology (DICT). Macabebe is the
first among the cities and towns in Pampanga to use the DICT’s system,
disclosed municipal Administrator Jomel Cruz.
Business Permit and Licensing Office officer Rosanna Dela Cruz said
that with the launching of e-BPLS, the time for processing business
permits and licenses would be cut down to five to ten minutes.
“It used to one day when they apply for permits. They keep coming back
if they forgot something,” Dela Cruz said. He added that there were
503 registered businesses in 2018 in Macabebe.
Balgan said the eBPLS would render a smooth and efficient services to
the growing businesses in their town. She added that she supports “the
improvement of the capabilities of her people and their services.”
Balgan said that the LGU’s shift to the automated system will also
lessen, if not totally stamp out, corruption in the processing of
business permits.
Department of Interior and Local Government-Pampanga provincial
director Myrvi Fabia praised Macabebe officials for its initiative to
avail of and implement the e-BPLS provided by the DICT.
DICT Assistant Regional Director Petronilo Villafuerte said the swift
to ePBLS by the LGUs is a directive from President Rodrigo Duterte.
