MAGALANG, Pampanga – Mayor Malu Lacson has appealed to electric cooperatives PELCO I and II to temporarily suspend service disconnections in Magalang, as Pampanga province remains under a state of calamity due to massive flooding.
In a public statement, Lacson urged the cooperatives to consider the difficult situation of her constituents, many of whom are struggling to recover from the impact of continuous rains and inundation.
The mayor laid out three key requests:
1. A 60-day suspension of all service disconnections for unpaid bills in Magalang;
2. Flexible installment payment plans for affected residents;
3. Priority reconnection for previously disconnected households, especially those with senior citizens, persons with disabilities, and families with small children.
Lacson emphasized the need for compassion and solidarity during this time, noting that restoring and maintaining essential services will greatly aid recovery efforts.
