Pampanga 1st District Representative and mayoral candidate Jon Lazatin rallied with Barangay Balibago officials to “make Balibago great again” during the ceremonial lighting of Christmas lanterns on the evening of November 24.
“Ibalik po natin ang sigla at saya ng Balibago (Let us bring back the vibrancy and joy of Balibago),” Lazatin said as he addressed the crowd gathered for the occasion.
Barangay Captain Joseph Ponce revealed that 143 colorful lanterns now light up the stretch of McArthur Highway, from Abacan Bridge to Astro Park. The project was made possible through sponsorships from local business establishments.
“We are grateful to our residents and business owners who supported this project to bring Christmas cheer to our community,” Ponce said.
The lanterns, symbolizing unity and hope, will remain displayed until October 2025, Ponce added.
The lighting ceremony marks the barangay’s effort to revive the festive atmosphere and promote solidarity among residents and businesses in the area. Lazatin’s call to action and Ponce’s leadership reflect a shared vision of restoring Balibago’s former vibrancy, resonating with locals eager to see their community thrive once again. Joining the event are Angeles City Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr., Vice Mayor Vicky Vega – Cabigting, Councilors Jaycee Parker, Niknok Bañola, Raco Del Rosario, Cris Cortez, Alex Indiongco and other barangay officials.
