Camp Olivas —A 41-year-old man was arrested on Tuesday for allegedly blackmailing a 24-year-old woman of uploading her nude photos and videos on social media in an entrapment in Mabalacat City, Pampanga.
Pampanga provincial police director Col. Arnold Thomas Ibay said joint elements of Anti-Cyber Crime Unit Region 3 and Mabalacat police arrested Rowel Solomon, 41, married and resident of Bgy. Ilog Baliwag, Sto.Rosario, Nueva Ecija at SOGO Hotel in Bgy. Dau, Mabalacat City, Pampanga.
Ibay said victim Charice, of Magalang, Pampanga, told police Solomon offered her huge amount of money to perform lewd acts online. Solomon then asked the victim to have sex with a certain “Jay” and record the sexual act to be sent to a handler for P600,000.
When the victim refused, she received continuous messages from the suspect threatening her that if she will not agree, her nude screenshot videos will be posted online. The victim was prompted to report the incident to the police.
Solomon will be charged with violations of Article 286 (Grave Coercion); RA 9995 (Anti-Photo and Video Vouyerism Act of 2009); and RA 10175 (Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2009).
“We would like to remind the public, especially women, to refrain from trusting strangers especially those whom they had met online and has been promising them with high compensation jobs as they might take advantage of the technology in committing their nefarious acts,” said Police Regional Office 3 Regional Director Brig. Gen. Valeriano de Leon.
