The police arrested a man after two hedge hogs were taken into his custody during an entrapment operation conducted on, October 18.
According to the report gathered from PLt. Mariel Cuizon, OIC of the Olongapo City Maritime Police Station.
Arrested the 34-year-old suspect who is a resident of Brgy. Tenejero, Balanga City, Bataan after meeting with a policeman who was a poseur buyer in front of a hotel in Barangay West Bajac-bajac of said city.
The operation was jointly carried out by the joint force of Olongapo City MARPSTA, Olongapo City Police Station 1 OCPO and officers of the City Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO)-Olongapo.
It is known that the said hedge hogs are sold for P2,500. However, it is said that there is no corresponding document that the suspect can show from the Department of Environment and Natural Resources to sell such animals.
The confiscated animals are now in the custody of CENRO-Olongapo while the suspect is in custody and will be charged with violation of R.A 9147 (Wildlife Resources Conservation and Protection Act Chapter IV Sec 27 in relation to R.A 10175 (Cyber Crime).
