Marcos vetoes bill declaring Pampanga culinary capital

MANILA, Philippines – President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. has vetoed the Senate-enrolled bill that sought to declare Pampanga as the culinary capital of the Philippines.

In a letter addressed to Senate President Chiz Escudero, Marcos formally rejected the measure, with Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin signing the veto message on his behalf. The Palace has yet to disclose the specific reasons behind the decision.

Pampanga, long celebrated for its rich culinary heritage, has been widely regarded as the country’s food capital. However, the veto means the title will remain unofficial unless new legislation is passed.
