In a significant display of solidarity and collaboration, the Freeport Area of Bataan (FAB) workers recently gathered for a Worker’s Assembly at the FAB Auditorium.
The event, spearheaded by the Labor Center’s Officer-in-Charge, Mr. Jan Jamison D. Zulueta, was attended by Mariveles Mayor Ace Jello Concepcion and several esteemed guests, including representatives from PhilHealth and other local government officials.
During the assembly, attendees were enlightened about the recent developments and challenges faced by the 38,769 FAB workers, comprising 20,429 men and 18,340 women, as revealed in the data presented. The discussion, led by Mr. Zulueta, shed light on the current state of the workforce, fostering a deeper understanding of their needs and aspirations. Zulueta also delivered the message from AFAB Administrator Mohammed Hussein Pangandaman.
A crucial segment of the assembly was dedicated to educating the workers about their rights and benefits as PhilHealth members. PhilHealth representatives provided valuable insights into the benefits available to the workers and their families, emphasizing the importance of correct usage and the significance of PhilHealth coverage for both the members and their close relatives.
The presence of Mariveles Sangguniang Bayan Members, Hon. Vonnel Isip and Hon. Dan Banal, and Board Member Angelito Sunga, representing Bataan Governor Joet Garcia, underscored the local government’s commitment to the welfare of the workers. Their attendance served as a testament to the importance placed on this assembly and the issues discussed.
Speaking at the event, Mayor AJ Concepcion expressed his support for the FAB workers, affirming the dedication of the entire Mariveles local government to improving the workers’ conditions. He emphasized the importance of such dialogues, stating, “Our workers are the backbone of our community, and it is our duty to ensure they receive the support they need to thrive. Mariveles will stand alongside the FAB workers and actively participate in initiatives aimed at enhancing their well-being and uplifting their quality of life.”
The event concluded on a positive note, with a sense of unity and purpose prevailing among the attendees.
