Mayor assures no COVID-19 community transmission in Morong

MORONG, Bataan — Morong Mayor Cynthia Estanislao assured her constituents that there is no community transmission of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in the town.

Amid recording the first COVID-19 case in Morong on Sunday, Estanislao stressed that the patient hasn’t come home in the town and didn’t had any physical contact with residents since March 24.

“She is a 34-year-old woman from Barangay Nagbalayong, who is now currently confined at the Bataan General Hospital and Medical Center,” Estanislao revealed in a statement.

According to the Municipal Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit, the patient was brought to a hospital in Balanga City last March 24 to give birth.

“Based from the information we have gathered, we can say that there is no community transmission in our town,” the local chief executive concluded.

Still, Estanislao added that the Barangay Health Emergency Response Team is continuously conducting contact tracing and is monitoring the family of the patient as precautionary measures.

“In view of this, we are expected to be more careful and continue following protocols and guidelines being implemented in our town,” Estanislao advised to her constituents. (CLJD/MJSD-PIA 3)
