Mayor Mylyn Pineda-Cayabyab asked all barangay officials here on Tuesday (Jan. 31) to double their peace and order efforts in their respective jurisdictions.
Mayor Pineda-Cayabyab met with the chairmen of the town’s 44 barangays at the Lubao Bamboo Hub and Eco Park to echo Gov. Lilia Pineda’s challenge to town and village officials to work harder to elevate the peace and order status of the province.
Included in the topics discussed in the meeting attended by Municipal Administrator Elizalde Bernal and Supt. Michael Masangkay, municipal police chief, was the strict monitoring of transients and visitors in each barangay.
The mayor explained that the barangay officials should take the initiative to safeguard their communities from threats to peace and security by knowing the identities of people coming in and out of their villages.
Gov. Pineda, the mayor explained to the chairmen, is very particular with the government’s campaign against illegal drugs.
“Taga-rito po sa Lubao ang ating governor at vice governor kaya ayaw nila na matulad tayo sa ibang mga bayan na may nadiskubreng mga shabu laboratory. Gusto nilang maging halimbawa tayong mga Lubao sa buong Pampanga na mahigpit ang pagbabantay laban sa iligal na droga,” she said.
Mayor Pineda-Cayabyab, who is also the president of the Pampanga Mayors League, attended the recent provincial peace and order council where Gov. Pineda prodded the mayors to support President Rodrigo Duterte’s program in stamping out illegal drugs.
“Bakit ba kailangang makiusap pa sa atin ng Pangulo na tulungan siyang sugpuin ang droga gayong trabaho naman talaga natin ito? Tayo mismo dapat ang magpursige na malutas ang problemang ito sa droga,” Gov. Pineda told the mayors in the recent meeting.
Mayor Pineda-Cayabyab has ordered the local police force to coordinate closely with barangay officials to create an effective network to maintain peace and order throughout this first-class town.
“The municipal government has open doors to help the barangays that need augmentation in resources to implement a more effective security measure in their village,” the mayor assured the barangay officials.
