ZAMBALES—Castillejos Mayor Jeffrey Khonghun’s priority is to build a government center on the land owned by his municipality to serve as a way for the advancement of his town.
This was known in the mayor’s speech during the turn-over ceremony between Fiesta Community Inc. (FCI) and Castillejos LGU for two day care centers and a health center recently donated by FCI.
According to Khonghun, the construction of the government center is currently underway on 23 hectares of land in Sitio Baring, Barangay San Nicolas where the Department of Public Works and Highways District Office, the President Ramon Magsaysay State University, the buildings of the Rural Health Center and the Bureau of Fire Protection of Castillejos.
According to the mayor, he wants the district offices of all government branches to be located on such land so that their services can be brought closer to the people.
“The government center we are working on, all the national agencies are there, what we are doing here in Castilljejos are District offices, we have signed many Memorandums of Understanding (MOU) with various national agencies for donations land,” said Khonghun.
It is known that the national line agencies can have a minimum of 500 to 4,000 square meters of land where their building can be built in the said government center.
It is said that among the agencies that have announced their intention to build their office in the aforementioned government center are the Land Transportation Office, Department of Social Welfare and Development, Department of Agriculture, Social Security System, Government Service Insurance System and the National Bureau of Investigation.
