Mayor Lazatin promotes environmental-friendly city

ANGELES CITY — Following Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin’s drive to protect the environment, the City Environment and Natural Resources Office, conducted environment educational programs in various schools and barangays here.

Some topics discussed during the programs were the 2017 Ecological Solid Waste Management and 2017 Codified Environmental Code focusing on solid waste management, plastic and waste segregation, water quality management, and water conservation.

“It is important that we build a community that is clean and organized. With this, we must also spread awareness and encourage people to take action. In this way we will ensure a more conducive environment for overall growth and development of our city,” Lazatin said.

The programs were attended by a over 500 people from July to December 2019.

In line with this, the CENRO has also collected P377,400 in fines for the months of July to December 2019.

According to the report of CENRO, most fines were from violations of the Anti-Smoking policy.

The apprehension and monitoring of the CENRO involved the following: Anti-Littering, open burning, anti-smoking, plastic ordinance, solid waste management, open dumping, mending ordinance, environmental constraint, water quality and septage, and illegal cutting of trees among others.

CENRO is continuously monitoring and implementing strict environment rules. In line with this, clean up drives around the city are also continuous.

It can be recalled that Mayor Lazatin ordered and personally supervised the clearing of roadways and sidewalks in all 33 barangays in Angeles City. This was based on the DILG Memo Circular 2019-121.

Furthermore, Mayor Lazatin continues to urge the public to use recyclable and environment-friendly materials.
