ANGELES CITY – Mayor Carmelo ‘Pogi’ Lazatin Jr. will investigate the involvement of city Hall employees behind the resumption of operations of bars which were shut down last Friday.
Brettos Grill and Sports Bar and Illjo Night Bar, two of the 21 establishments inspected during the inter-office saturation, were closed due to lack of health cards, unupdated probook and health check-up of employees such as pap smear.
“I will not allow any misconduct in my City. If I have to investigate fully all the employees here, I will,” the Mayor said.
Mayor Lazatin also pushed for the creation of an Internal Affairs Division today.
“I want to know who are the corrupt and abusive employees here. The people of Angeles deserve to receive the best service from the City Government, without hesitating to help them and asking for something in return,” he furthered.
According to the Mayor, starting today the renewal and inquiry of health cards will be conducted at the Social Hygiene Office. He then said that he will be strict on business establishments in the issuance of health cards.
“This is our way to protect our tourists in the City, to prevent them from acquiring STDs, HIV, or any health-related issues,” he added.
As a new policy, the Mayor will have to approve first if a business which was shut down is already okay to operate.
For the Mayor, this is part of his campaign to assure the level playing field, particularly along Walking Street.
“If you are here in my City, you need to abide by the laws of the City Government, and the country. We need to be fair and transparent. No more crooked path. No more,” he mentioned.#
