MEXICO, Pampanga — In a move to reinforce its solid waste management policies, the Municipality of Mexico conducted an early morning inspection on Monday, July 29, at a reported illegal waste dumping site in Barangay Concepcion.
The inspection, led by Municipal Environmental and Natural Resources Officer (MENRO) Engr. Arvin Siron, was carried out at 7:30 A.M. as part of the local government’s intensified efforts to enforce environmental regulations—particularly the No Segregation, No Collection policy anchored on Republic Act No. 9003, or the Ecological Solid Waste Management Act of 2000.
Local authorities reiterated that indiscriminate dumping is strictly prohibited under Section 48 of RA 9003, which penalizes the littering or disposal of garbage in public places such as roads, canals, esteros, and open lots. Officials also reminded that failure by local government units (LGUs) and agencies to enforce the law may lead to administrative sanctions under RA 7160 or the Local Government Code.
Mayor Ruding Santos Gonzales emphasized the importance of discipline and community participation in advancing Mexico’s environmental agenda.

“With the rainy season already upon us, proper waste segregation is not just about compliance—it’s about public health and flood prevention,” Gonzales said.
Since February 2025, the municipality has ramped up its Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) campaign to strengthen public awareness on proper waste disposal practices. The LGU also warned barangay officials that noncompliance will not be tolerated and will be met with appropriate sanctions.
“We are reminding all officials and residents—progress begins with responsibility. Segregate your waste, follow the law, and help build a cleaner, safer Mexico,” MENRO Siron added.
The municipal government vowed to continue surveillance and enforcement operations across all barangays to ensure accountability and sustainability in its solid waste management efforts.
