Meycauayan River cleanup yields 9,010 kg waste

The Environmental Management Bureau (EMB) Region III led a clean-up drive at Meycauayan River, Bulacan, on February 27, 2025, as part of ongoing efforts to rehabilitate Manila Bay.

The initiative brought together Meycauayan City officials, 26 barangays, 40 private industries, and an academe, highlighting a collaborative push for environmental sustainability.

Volunteers collected 530 sacks or 9,010 kilograms of mixed waste, which was turned over to the City Environment and Natural Resources Office for proper disposal.

Officials emphasized that restoring Meycauayan River’s water quality is crucial in meeting the Supreme Court’s 2008 Writ of Continuing Mandamus for Manila Bay’s rehabilitation.

The EMB underscored the importance of public and private sector participation in addressing pollution and strengthening waste management efforts.

Authorities vow to sustain cleanup drives and advocate for stronger environmental policies to improve the river’s ecological health.
