The Mutya Ning Angeles 2024 crown, designed by multi-disciplinary artist Cholo Ayuyao, stands as a shining tribute to the city’s steady growth and the vision of the leadership of Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin, Jr.
This year’s crown is more than just a piece of jewelry — it is a symbol of the city’s thriving economy and the rich artistic culture that continues to flourish in Angeles City.
For Ayuyao, whose artistic journey spans 27 years, the crown’s design reflects both simplicity and power.
“I wanted the crown to mirror the skyline of Angeles City — angular, rising, and full of life,” he explained. “The design incorporates rhinestones, zirconia, and lab-grown garnets, representing the blood and vitality of the city I’ve grown up in and loved.”
The theme of the crown’s design — inspired by the constant upward momentum of the city — perfectly aligns with Mayor Lazatin’s vision of a progressive Angeles City.
As Ayuyao puts it, the crown’s angular design echoes the strong economic growth that defines the city today.
“I wanted to keep it simple yet striking, just like the city’s rise,” Ayuyao said. “The materials I chose reflect the enduring energy and resilience of Angeles, making this crown not just an ornament but a representation of our collective spirit.”
As a multi-disciplinary artist from Barangay Sto. Rosario, Ayuyao’s body of work includes fashion design, costume jewelry, and doll artistry.
Ayuyao also extended his gratitude to Mayor Lazatin and the MNA working committee led by Chief Adviser IC Calaguas and Executive Assistant IV Reina Manuel for their continued support to the local arts scene.
“The administration of Mayor Lazatin has always championed the arts and supported the growth of our local talent,” Ayuyao said. “Through events like MNA, we are able to showcase the beauty and creativity of the Angeleña and celebrate the contributions of everyone who works behind the scenes. Congratulations to everyone involved for dedicating their time and resources to highlight the boundless talents of the Angeleña people,” Ayuyao shared.
The MNA 2024 grand coronation night is set on Nov. 28, 2024 at the Grand Palazzo Royale.
