Mylyn Pineda-Cayabyab underscores education thrusts in mayoral run

City of San Fernando, Pampanga – Mylyn Pineda-Cayabyab, mayoral candidate for the City of San Fernando, reaffirmed her commitment to advancing the city’s educational programs in the upcoming May 12 elections.

During the launch of the second wave of political caucuses in Barangay Malino, Pineda-Cayabyab and her team, My Love San Fernando, shared their vision for enhancing education within the city.

As part of her platform, Pineda-Cayabyab emphasized the urgent need for the construction of more school buildings to accommodate the growing student population and to ensure access to quality education for all. “It’s disheartening to see elementary students forced to attend classes in shifts, depriving them of sufficient learning time,” she said. “Some of our Grade 6 students still struggle with basic arithmetic and cannot read or write properly. This is unacceptable, and we must act now.”

The candidate highlighted her experience as a former Board Member, where she successfully advocated for the titling of public school lots that were previously unrecognized, ensuring the stability and longevity of educational institutions. In one instance, she prevented the revocation of a land donation that supported over 1,000 students and even negotiated an additional 5,000 square meters to benefit the school.

Pineda-Cayabyab’s proposed educational reforms also include a focus on early childhood education. “The daycare years are critical in laying a solid foundation for our children’s future,” she emphasized. “By strengthening early childhood care and development programs, we can reduce future challenges and provide children with the best start possible.”

To further support students, Pineda-Cayabyab pledged to implement a comprehensive scholarship program that covers college students from their first year through graduation, complete with an allowance. “As long as students maintain the required academic standards, they will receive continuous scholarship support under my administration,” she affirmed.

For out-of-school youth (OSY), Pineda-Cayabyab expressed her commitment to providing skills training opportunities, empowering young individuals to either re-enter the workforce or launch their own businesses.

“My vision is to ensure that every resident of San Fernando has access to opportunities for growth and success. Education is the foundation of that vision,” Pineda-Cayabyab concluded.
