Mylyn Pineda-Cayabyab vows to address business sector concerns

San Fernando City, Pampanga – Mayoral candidate Mylyn Pineda-Cayabyab has pledged to confront longstanding issues raised by the local business sector if she is elected in the upcoming May 12 elections.

Pineda-Cayabyab recently held a dialogue with several prominent business leaders in the city, during which she listened to their concerns about inefficiencies and alleged malpractice within the current city administration.

The meeting, she noted, only confirmed the growing dissatisfaction of the business community with the present leadership.

“The problems have been voiced out time and again. What we’ve seen now is confirmation—directly from those affected—that these issues are real and urgent,” Pineda-Cayabyab said in Filipino.

Among the key issues raised by the business sector were bureaucratic red tape, significant delays in processing permits and licenses, and circulating reports of alleged extortion involving business locators—challenges that have led to substantial operational losses for local entrepreneurs.

In addition, the business leaders raised serious concerns about the inefficient service of the local water utility, Prime Water Holdings. They cited service interruptions and poor response times that have affected business operations and community well-being.

They urged Pineda-Cayabyab to look into alleged irregularities that may be contributing to the declining quality of service.

In response, Pineda-Cayabyab laid out her economic and livelihood platform, which includes revitalizing public markets, extending support to Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs), and implementing the “Business Friendly Fernandino” (BFF) initiative aimed at streamlining business processes and eliminating red tape.

She also underscored the importance of road and infrastructure development to further attract and sustain investments in the city.

“My goal is to foster a governance style that empowers and partners with the business community—not one that hinders its growth,” she added.
