Name names, PBBM told on flood funds

MANILA, Philippines – Public health advocate and reform campaigner Dr. Tony Leachon called on President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. to reveal the identities of corrupt officials allegedly involved in flood control fund misuse, following reports that a high-ranking Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) undersecretary was quietly removed amid a corruption probe.

“The time to name names is now,” Leachon said in a strongly worded public statement posted Monday, July 29.

The call follows Senator Erwin Tulfo’s revelation about the so-called “richest Usec in the world,” whose reassignment from the DPWH sparked questions about the administration’s commitment to transparency.

“Reassignment is not accountability. Transfer is not justice,” Leachon stressed, urging Malacañang to disclose the official’s identity, release audit findings, and overhaul flood control budgeting.

As floodwaters rise across the country, public frustration is deepening—not only over natural disasters but also over the perceived lack of political will to punish those exploiting them for personal gain.

Leachon said Filipinos are “tired of whispers and euphemisms” and demanded swift action from Marcos: “Crack the whip—not just for headlines, but for history.”
