National Irrigation Administration holds site validation for Mabalacat diversion dam

The National Irrigation Administration (NIA) Pampanga-Bataan Irrigation Management Office (PamBat IMO), in coordination with NIA Regional Office and Central Office Planning and Design Sections, conducted a site validation and coordination meeting for the proposed diversion dam in Barangay Calumpang, Mabalacat, Pampanga. The event took place from January 27 to 31, 2025.

The coordination meeting involved key stakeholders, including representatives from the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Pampanga 3rd District Engineering Office and the City Government of Mabalacat’s Planning and Development Office. Discussions focused on aligning NIA’s efforts with local government units to address the region’s irrigation challenges and support sustainable agricultural development.

Following the coordination meeting, the NIA team, along with barangay officials, conducted an on-site validation to evaluate the project’s feasibility and potential impact. The initiative aims to enhance irrigation systems and improve agricultural productivity in the area, benefiting local farmers.

The proposed diversion dam is part of NIA’s long-term strategy to strengthen irrigation infrastructure and contribute to the region’s agricultural sustainability. The successful planning and design of this project are expected to significantly support the local farming community in Pampanga.
