ANGELES CITY —The National Vaccination Operation Center has commended the Angeles City Local Government Unit, led by Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin, Jr. for its high jabbing rate, accommodating 9,800 Angeleños in a day.
This was revealed by National Task Force Against Covid-19 (NTF) Deputy Chief Implementer Secretary Vince Dizon in a meeting last September 10.
“Nagpapasalamat po tayo kay Sec. Dizon, sa Department of Health, sa NVOC sa pagkilala sa efforts natin dito sa syudad,” Lazatin said.
Sec. Dizon also urged the city government not to slow down the vaccination roll-out especially now that Angeles City has launched the Ronda Bakuna and Sundo Bakuna sa Barangay house-to-house vaccination programs.
Lazatin’s Chief Adviser IC Calaguas, also the chief implementer of the city government’s vaccination program, has requested the NVOC to allocate Angeles City 30,000-40,000 vials a week for the first dose of vaccination of Angeleños.
“With the roll-out in barangays and the on-site vaccination in the City College of Angeles and Angeles City National High School, mas napapabilis po ang ating pagbabakuna. Records show that we can accommodate up to 9,800 Angeleños in a day,” Calaguas said.
With this, Dizon assures that the NVOC is monitoring Angeles City and will be one of the priority LGUs to receive the vaccines once their arrival.
To recall, a total of 9,764 residents have been vaccinated on Sept.1, the highest number vaccinated in a single day since the start of the blended scheme vaccination – Ronda Bakuna at Sundo Bakuna sa Barangay programs.
Calaguas explained that the city assigned 400 employees to the city’s inoculation program.
Reina Manuel, Executive Assistant IV and the head of ways and means of the city’s inoculation program, said the city has purchased all the ancillary supplies needed for the vaccination of its targeted population.
To date, out of the 462,928 estimated population, the city government has inoculated 178,387 Angeleños for the first dose of vaccines while 106,587 were already fully vaccinated.
