CAPAS, Tarlac — The national governement is eyeing to build a P1-billion rehabilitation Center in Central Luzon, particularly in Barangay Cristo Rey here.
In a monthly forum at the News@Hues edition of Park Inn Clark, Capas Mayor Reynaldo Catacutan confirmed that the national government has allocated some P1 billion for the construction of rehabilitation center for drug dependents in Central Luzon.
Catacutan said the local government unit of Capas donated six hectares of land for the rehabilitation center for reformists.
The LGU, the mayor added, also donated a 1.5 hectares of land to house the evacuation center, which is also intended for the entire region.
Last July 2016, in partnership with Capas investors and the LGU, this town’s Bahay Pagbabago that can house at least 1,000 reformists was inaugurated.
Catacutan said that the Bahay Pagbabago of Capas is open to all Tarlaqueños.
As of press time 78 reformists are already housed at the Bahay Pagbabago here.
“The LGU is giving a cash for work program to help the reformists in their daily food because once the reformists enter the Bahay Pagbabago they will shoulder their own expenses for 2 months,” Catacutan stressed.
He, however, admitted that Capas in not yet totally drug-free.
The Capas Drug Reformatory Center is a 2-hectare project aiding the Oplan Tokhang and enable the offenders’ family to only spend about P10,000 per individual in two months of commitment, as opposed to spending 6 months in a rehabilitation center which costs over P120,000.
