CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga — National Commission on Indigenous Peoples (NCIP) partnered with the private sector in the provision of food and other relief assistance to several Indigenous Cultural Communities of Dumagat in Bulacan.
Through collaboration and combined efforts, they were able to provide aid to 1,588 Indigenous Peoples (IP) households in the province.
“Our personnel in Bulacan proved that the size of your team does not hinder you from reaching out and fulfilling your mandate. With only a handful of staff, our only Community Service Center located at Norzagaray coordinated with local government units and the private sector for the timely rendering of essential goods and services during the duration of the Enhanced Community Quarantine,” NCIP Regional Director Ruben Bastero said.
In coordination with the Office of Commissioner Rolando Rivera who is the Ethnographic Commissioner of Central Luzon, NCIP Bulacan was able to share food assistance particularly rice to several IPs of Tarlac City and to stranded IPs from other regions in the City of San Fernando, Pampanga.
“We wish to express our gratitude to all Indigenous Peoples Mandatory Representatives, Tribal Councils and Barangay Officials for their active role in the response,” Bastero added.
Resolution No. 41 of the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases placed the provinces of Aurora, Bataan, Bulacan, Nueva Ecija, Pampanga, Tarlac and Zambales as well as the cities of Angeles and Olongapo under General Community Quarantine from June 1-15.
