Worried parents have expressed their support to the plan of Senator Manuel “Lito” Lapid to seek an inquiry to determine the feasibility of telecommunications companies providing free internet access to students and teachers all over the country.
With the absence of vaccine against coronavirus, most of the parents have supported the plan to conduct online classes.
Lapid said Senate Resolution 416 aims to provide free internet service to benefit all students and teachers during times of disaster and emergency when physical classes cannot be conducted. More than 18,000 Filipinos had already been infected with the deadly COVID-19 while nearly 1,000 have already died.
The COVID-19 pandemic resulted to the closure of schools throughout the country.
The Department of Education (DepEd) has decided to push back the resumption of classes to August 24, but the mode of learning is not the traditional face-to-face learning classroom. Some schools that will be forced to implement alternative learning modules such as online classes.
The tertiary level, universities and colleges with capacity to conduct full online classes can proceed with their schedule any time.
“It is clear the mode of education would be dependent on online classes, online activities, projects and assignments,” said Lapid.

“Good idea,” said one Rojen Sanchez.
“Supreme, electricity is also needed to run the internet,” said Lovelyn Ocampo-Garcia.
“Samahan niyo na po ng gadgets para dun sa mga di maka afford. Gawin na antin makatotohanan ang affordbale education for all. Kidding aside, free internet will be a big help. Sana umabot sa mga remote areas,” said Jenny Mee Galang.
