CLARK AIR BASE — Newly installed Philippine Air Force (PAF) Commanding General Lieutenant General Galileo Kintanar Jr. reiterated Tuesday that PAF will remain its focus on national and maritime security.
“Embodying our core attributes (of) bravery, loyalty, united, and exemplary, we are determined to further transform and improve as people’s defender of peace, partner of development and an agent for achieving the greater good,” Kintanar said during the Change of Command Ceremony which was graced by President Duterte.
“The Zamboanga Siege, the Yolanda Crisis, the Bohol Earthquake and the just concluded Marawi campaign all gave a clearer picture of what your air force can do. Delivering air power that can be seen, air power that can be heard and air power that can be felt anytime, anywhere,” he stated.
Kintanar emphasized that PAF’s collective efforts has revealed that the airmen and women are brave, bold and daring beyond the call of duty.
Moreover, it is an organization loyal to the constitution, a team united in purpose and resolved to serve God, country and people and an institution that is exemplary in name and action.
“Given the relative vulnerabilities of many areas in our country, particularly in Mindanao on the basis of natural calamities and human-induced crisis, we aim for the higher goal of resilient development,” Kintanar said.
Meanwhile, the official disclosed his plan for the recovery, rehabilitation and rebuilding of Marawi and vowed to support the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) in countering the threats to the nation’s security and building resilience in afflicted communities.
“Like the rest of AFP, PAF already feels the urgency to step up efforts to clear the ground for the accelerated rehabilitation of Marawi and build resilience in other disaster prone areas,” he stressed. (CLJD/TJBM-PIA 3) Trixie Joy B. Manalili
