TARLAC CITY – Residents of Barangay San Francisco West in Anao, Tarlac now have a dedicated venue for community events with the completion of a P6.86-million multipurpose covered court by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).

The 518.40-square-meter facility, constructed by the DPWH Tarlac 1st District Engineering Office, now serves as a hub for recreational, cultural, and civic activities.

“This covered court provides a dedicated and functional space for coordination meetings, seasonal sports events, and other key gatherings that bring residents together,” District Engineer Neil Farala said.

The structure includes a stage, dressing rooms, comfort rooms, and a ramp compliant with Batas Pambansa Blg. 344 or the Accessibility Law, ensuring access for persons with disabilities.

This feature underscores the government’s commitment to building inclusive infrastructure that leaves no one behind.

Funded under the 2025 national budget, the project supports the Marcos administration’s priority to enhance grassroots infrastructure and strengthen community-based social services.

In his 2024 State of the Nation Address, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. emphasized the importance of infrastructure that connects and empowers communities both physically and culturally.

The newly completed covered court aligns with this vision by providing a safe, weather-protected space that fosters community engagement and supports local development.

Residents have expressed their appreciation for the facility, which enhances their capacity to hold events and other public activities, rain or shine. (CLJD/RPQ, PIA Region 3-Tarlac)
