NHCP to parents: Encourage kids to explore online platforms on history

ANGELES CITY, June 12 (PIA) — National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP) asks parents to encourage their children to explore online platforms on history amidst the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic which prohibits face to face learning.

“Our main goal is to strengthen and reach out to the youth our museum activities promoting history and cultural heritage. The teachers can likewise utilize these,” Museum of Philippine Social History (MPSH) curator Bettina Arriola said.

“Please do visit our NHCP Facebook page and browse through the different museums such as that of the MPSH. We recently released 360-degree virtual tour where you can explore the galleries online,” she added.

Meanwhile, a toned-down activity due to the current health crisis marked the celebration of the 122nd anniversary of the declaration of Philippine Independence at MPSH.

Angeles City Vice Mayor Vicky Vega-Cabigting led the flag raising ceremony. She was accompanied by Arriola, Rural Health Unit physician Verona Guevarra, Tourism Officer Anneleen Sugui and Joel David from the City Council.

This year’s celebration carries the theme “Kalayaan 2020: Tungo sa Bansang Malaya, Nagbabayanihan, at Ligtas.”
