NIA Pampanga inspects Turu Dam rehab project

PAMPANGA, Philippines – The Operations and Maintenance (O&M) Section of the Pampanga Delta River Irrigation System (PDRIS) conducted a site inspection at Turu Manembu Irrigators Association (IA) on January 21, 2025, to assess the rehabilitation of Turu Dam and the status of farming activities in the area.

Led by O&M Section Chief Engr. Clarita G. Silverio, the team from the National Irrigation Administration Pampanga-Bataan Irrigation Management Office (NIA PamBat IMO) reviewed the condition of the newly rehabilitated dam and its impact on local irrigation.

Joining the inspection was Turu Manembu IA Chairman Armando Ambagan, who provided updates on the farmers’ progress and the ongoing challenges they face. While the rehabilitation of Turu Dam has improved irrigation efficiency, farmers continue to grapple with issues such as fluctuating water supply and rising operational costs.

NIA officials assured the irrigators’ association of their continued support in addressing these concerns. The agency remains committed to optimizing irrigation systems in Pampanga to boost agricultural productivity and support local farmers.

Turu Dam serves as a vital irrigation source for surrounding farmlands, playing a crucial role in sustaining the region’s agricultural output.
