Nigerian kidnap group busted in Angeles City

Five Nigerian nationals were arrested in Angeles City on Thursday, November 7, for allegedly kidnapping a fellow Nigerian, according to a report from the Police Regional Office 3 (PRO3).

PRO3 Director Brigadier General Redrico Maranan identified the suspects as Evans Enwwereaku Chinemerem, David Chidera Ibegbulamo, Nwokeke Christian Ihechukwu, Nwokeke Cajothan Chinemmerem, and Okonkwo Emmanuel Kosiso, all residents of Angeles City, Pampanga.

The rescue operation, led by operatives from the Philippine National Police-Anti Kidnapping Group (PNP-AKG) and supported by the Mabalacat and Angeles City Police, was conducted around 5 a.m. in Barangay Malabanias, Angeles City. The operation was launched following a tip that Nigerian student Kingsley Chukwuemeka Ikeagwuana, a resident of Urban Resort Residences in Parañaque City, had been abducted and held in the area.

Authorities seized three firearms from the suspects, including two .45-caliber pistols and a .38-caliber revolver, all loaded with ammunition.

The suspects will face charges of Kidnapping for Ransom (KFR) and violations of Republic Act 10591, or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.

“This should serve as a warning to those planning criminal activities. Crime has no place in Central Luzon. With our police force, partners, and the community’s support, we are committed to maintaining safety and peace in our region,” said Maranan, echoing the advocacy of PNP Chief General Rommel Marbil, “Sa Bagong Pilipinas, ang Gusto ng Pulis, Ligtas Ka.”
