Officials of NLEX Corporation and City of Angeles, Pampanga recently signed a memorandum of agreement (MOA) to address the present traffic situation within the Angeles Interchange.
Leading the signing are Angeles City Mayor Carmelo Lazatin Jr. (2nd from left), Angeles City Vice Mayor Vicky Vega-Cabigting (3rd from left), NLEX Corporation Vice President for Asset Management Jennifer Jane T. Go (right), and NLEX Corporation Assistant Vice President for Operations Management West D. Dionisio (left).
The City is currently encountering traffic congestion, especially during peak hours, due to increase in traffic volume and economic activities.
Under the deal, both parties shall implement measures around the traffic management zone to ease traffic concerns and enhance the safety and security of motorists and pedestrians alike. These include the deployment of traffic personnel, improvement of service time at the toll plaza, clearing of sidewalks, and prohibition of illegal parking, loading/unloading, and jaywalking affecting the NLEX traffic flow.
The agreement also involves regular consultation between the two parties on plans and policies that may affect the area.
In 2018, NLEX has augmented the Angeles Toll Plaza with two entry lanes and one exit lane, bringing the total toll lanes to 10. It has also completed a traffic impact study incorporating planned mixed-use and infrastructure developments in the area to develop traffic engineering strategies thus improve mobility in the City. #
