Motorists using the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) will face higher toll fees starting March 2, 2025, as NLEX Corp. rolls out its first tranche of adjusted rates. The Toll Regulatory Board (TRB) approved the increase, allowing the company to collect 50% of the provisionally approved 2022 periodic toll rate adjustments. The adjustments include an additional ₱5.00 for Class 1 vehicles, ₱13.00 for Class 2, and ₱15.00 for Class 3 at the Open System, which covers Balintawak, Caloocan, and Mindanao Avenue up to Marilao. For the Closed System, covering areas north of Marilao to Sta. Ines, Mabalacat City, Class 1 vehicles will pay ₱52.00 more, Class 2 ₱129.00, and Class 3 ₱156.00.
Motorists traveling end-to-end from Metro Manila to Sta. Ines will see an increase of ₱57.00 for Class 1, ₱142.00 for Class 2, and ₱171.00 for Class 3. Those using the Subic-Tipo segment will pay an additional ₱7.00, ₱18.00, and ₱21.00 for Class 1, 2, and 3, respectively. NLEX Corp. was also granted approval to recover its investment in the newly completed Candaba 3rd Viaduct through add-on toll fees in the Closed System. The viaduct, which was fully operational by December 10, 2024, had initially been opened in phases without toll collection.
The toll adjustments underwent a meticulous review by the TRB, ensuring compliance with the 2013 Revised Rules of Procedure. NLEX Corp. stated that the increases aim to support infrastructure development while mitigating inflation’s impact on tollway users. Despite the hike, only a portion of the approved adjustments will be implemented this year, with further increases expected in the future.
