The Candaba 3rd Viaduct of the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) is set to open before Christmas, NLEX Corporation President Jay Luigi Bautista announced after an ocular inspection with local officials from Pampanga and Bulacan.
The new viaduct spans five kilometers and was completed ahead of schedule. Construction began in June 2023 and wrapped up this November, beating the original 24-month timeline. The project cost NLEX Corporation P9 billion.
Bautista said the company has requested the Toll Regulatory Board to approve a toll rate adjustment of 40 centavos per kilometer for motorists traveling between the Sta. Ines Exit and the Bocaue Toll Plaza.
The Candaba 3rd Viaduct is expected to enhance traffic flow along the NLEX, particularly for vehicles crossing the flood-prone Candaba Swamp.
Looking ahead, Bautista revealed plans to construct an elevated “Sky Air” roadway from Bocaue to Balintawak to connect NLEX with the Skyway. This project aims to further improve travel between Central Luzon and Metro Manila by reducing congestion in heavily traveled areas.
The Candaba 3rd Viaduct is part of NLEX Corporation’s ongoing efforts to modernize and expand the expressway network, ensuring safer and more efficient road travel for motorists.
