
One month and 19 days in public service as representative of first district of Pampanga, Cong. Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin, Jr. has already filed six house bills and three resolutions including the House Bill 2422, an act establishing the Bale Pusu or home for the elderlies in every city and municipality in the Philippines.

During his term as City Mayor of Angeles, Lazatin put up the Bale Pusu which takes into custody homeless or abandoned elderly individuals. In here, they are given regular health check-ups and are being monitored by social workers 24 hours/ day. Lazatin seeks to replicate this project and set standards for the provision of eldercare in the country. Based on 2020 census conducted by the Philippine Statistics Office, 9.22 million of the total population are senior citizens.

Meanwhile, Lazatin also said during the press conference with members of CLMA Pampanga that he already received his two-month salary which he will donate to provide free caskets or kabaong to indigent residents of Magalang, Mabalacat and Angeles City starting September 1.
