SUBIC BAY FREEPORT, Philippines – Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA) employees assigned to essential departments will be working round the clock during the Holy Week, as the Freeport braces for an influx of tourists beginning April 13.
At the “Meet the Press” forum organized by the Central Luzon Media Association (CLMA) Olongapo-Zambales on Wednesday, April 10, SBMA Law Enforcement Department (LED) Communication Branch officer-in-charge Lt. Roderick Grueso said most of their personnel will not have days off during the holiday rush.
Grueso explained that the current manpower and the expected tourist surge demand a “full force” approach from SBMA’s essential departments to ensure order and safety inside the Freeport.
Aside from LED, other SBMA units such as the Fire Department, Tourism Department, Public Health and Safety, and Maintenance Department will be on high alert and duty throughout the Holy Week and summer vacation period.
He also noted that Subic Bay Freeport is not only a prime destination but also a common route for travelers heading to Zambales and northern Luzon.
Grueso urged travelers to show support and kindness to workers braving the summer heat by offering them water or hydration, calling them the “unsung heroes” ensuring a safe and orderly vacation for everyone.
