Pampanga Police Provincial Director Colonel Jean Fajardo clarified today, April 14, 2020 there will be no imposition of a total lockdown in the province beginning on April 15, 2020 contrary to the fake news circulating on social media yesterday.
All markets, groceries, drug stores, and other essential services will remain open to cater to the day to day needs of the public, she said.
Upon the order of Governor Dennis ‘Delta’ Pineda to clear the fake information, she made her statement during her online press conference since the fake news resulted to panic and volume of people flocking the streets going to markets, grocery stores, banks and remittance centers believing the total lockdown will be implemented.
“I was instructed by Gov. Pineda to reach out to our media to help disseminate the right and fact information to the Cabalens to allay the fears of the public,” she said.
According to her, “there is no truth to that.” Last March 27, 2020, lockdown in Pampanga has already been implemented. However, she clearly reiterated then that while there is a stricter border control in the province, “markets, groceries, drug stores, and other essential services shall remain open.”
Fajardo is also appealing to the public to not believe everything they see and read in social media.
“I am assuring you that essential establishments will remain open,” she said.
