MABALACAT CITY, Philippines – Mayor Atty. Geld Aquino assured seasonal workers in South Korea that they will receive their full salaries when they visited him at the city hall.
“Gusto po natin na buo ang makukuha sweldo ng ating mga workers bilang tulong sa kanila at sa pamilya nila,” Aquino said.
Earlier, Vice Mayor Jun Castro said he received reports and complaints from the seasonal workers that their salary was being deducted by P10,000 monthly by a former ranking official of Mabalacat City College and a PESO officer.
The City Council will conduct an investigation into the reported “Kaltas Sweldo Scam.”
“Hindi na sila naawa sa ating mga kababayan na nagpapakahirap magtrabaho sa ibang bansa tapos kakaltasin mo pa ng P10K kada buwan. Saan napupunta ang perang ito at bakit kailangan kaltasin?” Castro said.
Aquino emphasized that his administration will ensure workers are protected and that no further unauthorized deductions will happen.
