Northern Luzon Command (NOLCOM) joined the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) simultaneous Interfaith Memorial Service and Flag Retreat in honor of the troops who died in the C-130 mishap.
In the memorial service, the whole command offered their condolences to the bereaved families of the victims as well as fervent prayers for the full recovery of those who survived and currently confined in the military and civilian hospitals.
NOLCOM Commander Lieutenant General Marcelo Burgos Jr. relayed the message of AFP Acting Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Erickson Gloria.
“These men and women have offered their lives on the line for the noble call of duty. For that, there is no amount of compensation that can ever repay the services that they have made for the country,” Gloria said.
“Together, let us solemnly salute each of our fallen heroes for their unrivaled sacrifices for the country,” he furthered.
They offered a wreath at the NOLCOM’s Heroes Monument in a solemn ceremony to recognize the services of their fallen comrades and pay tribute for their heroism and ended with a Flag Retreat.
“We mourn with the whole nation for the loss of our fallen heroes. Our comrades may have perished, but their sacrifices and dedication will be forever remembered as we continue our fight as protectors of the Filipino people and guardians of the country,” Burgos said. (CLJD/GLSB-PIA 3)
