The Nationalian community came together Friday, September 22, 2023, for the blessing and inauguration ceremony of the National University (NU) Clark campus all with the theme “Spark at NU Clark”.
The site is skylined in the premises of Clark Tech Hub 8, SM City Clark Expansion, Clark-Mabalacat-Angeles Road, Dau, Pampanga which offers various programs in senior high school, accountancy, business & management, architecture, engineering & technology, education, dentistry (soon), and arts & sciences.
NU Clark is the 10th campus of the National University and the second campus in Central Luzon, conveniently located in Mabalacat, Pampanga.
Eucharistic celebration of the Holy Mass; blessing-and-ribbon-cutting; and marker-unveiling commenced the event, which was followed by an inaugural program.
Inspirational messages were delivered by NU President Dr. Renato Carlos Ermita, SM Supermalls President Steven Tan, City Councilor Niknok Bañola (represented Angeles City Mayor Carmelo Pogi Lazatin Jr., First District Congressman Jon Lazatin II and Vice Mayor Vicky Vega), Board Member Cherry Manalo represented Pampanga Governor Dennis Pineda, DEPED Regional Director May Eclar, Clark Development Corporation President Agnes Devanadera and NU Executive Director Dr. Arnel Diego, RPm, Phd.
Aligned with the NU’s ten-year expansion program and its vision of providing accessible, affordable, and quality education, NU Clark was formally established to open more opportunities to students and other partners who value education that works.
“As we set foot into this new era, we commemorate this significant milestone and share our joy with all the
stakeholders, including the management, employees, and important guests”, said Dr. Diego in his invitation letter to media partner Central Luzon Media Association (CLMA) Pampanga.
The edifice houses the most conducive learning environment, equipped with state-of-the-art facilities, with its classrooms designed to challenge students to develop critical thinking and actively participate in their own learning.
The event was also witnessed by Academic Director Dr. Priscilla Evangelista, donors and benefactors, distinguished guests, including the board of trustees, administrators, faculty and staff; university’s collegiate men’s and women’s varsity teams NU Bulldogs and Lady Bulldogs, respectively, and high school varsity teams Bullpups and Lady Bullpups.

The founder of the university, Mariano F. Jhocson Sr., established the institution on August 1, 1900, as Colegio Filipino in Quiapo, Manila. It is considered as the first private nonsectarian and coeducational institution in the Philippines and also, the first university to use English as its medium of instruction, replacing Spanish. In 2008, the SM Group of Companies acquired majority ownership of the National University.
