In a commendable partnership, SM City Bataan has joined forces with the Provincial Government of Bataan, the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), and the City of Balanga to spearhead the launching of Mangrove Adoption and Protection Project on November 14, 2023 at Brgy Pto. Rivas Ibaba, City of Balanga, Bataan.
Mangroves play a crucial role in maintaining coastal ecosystems. They act as a natural barrier against typhoon and storm surges and provide a habitat for diverse marine life. Recognizing the importance of mangroves, SM City Bataan participated in this initiative to enhance the resilience of the local environment and promote biodiversity.
Present during the launch are Samahan ng Mangingisda, Tinig ng Mandaragat, Board Members of Bataan, Provincial Government of Bataan and City Government of Balanga Department Heads. Attendees joined in the mangrove planting, creating a memorable experience.
On August 1, the signing of the Memorandum of Agreement for the Balanga Mangrove Adoption and Protection Project took place. Present during the signing were Junias M. Eusebio, SM Vice President for Mall Operations, Bataan Governor Jose Enrique Garcia III, and Balanga City Mayor Francis Anthony Garcia.
