The Overseas Filipino Workers (OFW) Hospital is gearing up to establish its hemodialysis and cancer care units for OFWs and their qualified dependents.
During the 15th episode of the Kapihan sa Bagong Pilipinas of the Philippine Information Agency, OFW Hospital Chief Ralph Julius Mendoza said that they are working on expanding the services of the hospital to turn it into a cancer specialty hospital.
“The establishment of hemodialysis and cancer care units will help in addressing the significant burden of chronic kidney disease and cancer within our community,” he stressed.
At present, the 50-bed capacity facility offers laboratory services, radiology diagnostic imaging, outpatient consultation, pre-employment examination, inpatient admission, minor surgery and urgent care to OFWs and their qualified dependents including their spouse, children, parents and siblings (for unmarried OFWs).
It addresses the pre-employment and post-arrival health needs of overseas workers and seafarers.
Moreover, it has a telehealth program aimed at extending their reach beyond Pampanga and Central Luzon, and linking OFWs across the country and across the globe.
Mendoza stated that they envision elevating the hospital into a premiere tertiary center which offers highly specialized diagnostic and therapeutic services tailored to the unique needs of migrant workers.
“We aspire to be the nation’s leading institution in migrant occupational health, setting the standard for excellence in medical services, training and research dedicated to our OFWs,” he added.
Mendoza disclosed that the Level 1 Specialty Hospital has already provided 400,000 health services to approximately 60,000 families.
“Despite being in only our second year of operations, OFW Hospital has already made remarkable strides with the unwavering support of our OFWs and their families, the Department of Migrant Workers, the Department of Health, the Philippine Migrant Health Network, and our policy makers. We are confident in our continued growth and our mission to deliver world-class health care to all OFWs and their families,” Mendoza noted.
The OFW Hospital is the first and only hospital in the Philippines that provides comprehensive medical services to OFWs and their dependents.
