As a concerned Fernandino, a citizen of San Fernando, and one of the many consumers directly affected, I can no longer stay silent about the unacceptable condition of our water supply. For the past two weeks, the water coming out of our faucets has been muddy, yellowish, and foul-smelling totally unfit for human use.
Whether we like it or not, this is the water we use to bathe, brush our teeth, wash our dishes, and in some cases, even cook. The longer this continues, the higher the risk of illness to our families. This is not just a matter of poor service it is a threat to our health, safety, and dignity.
PrimeWater has failed to fulfill its promise to provide clean and safe water to the people of San Fernando. This is not the first time we’ve had problems, but it has never been this bad, and still, we see no action, no explanation, and no accountability.
But what is even more disturbing is the silence and inaction of our Local Government Unit and the San Fernando Water District. These institutions are supposed to monitor and enforce the concessionaire agreement. Their role is to protect the people, not turn a blind eye to our suffering.
What are they doing? Where are the inspections? Where is the pressure on PrimeWater to fix this mess? Are we just supposed to endure this silently while continuing to pay for water we cannot use?
I call on the City Government of San Fernando and the San Fernando Water District:
Do your job. Exercise your authority. Hold PrimeWater accountable. Investigate, act, and tell the public the truth. Enough of this neglect.
To PrimeWater: Clean, safe water is not a favor. It is a basic right. You made a commitment. Fulfill it. Stop collecting payments for a service you are clearly not delivering.
I join my fellow Fernandinos in calling for:
1. Immediate water testing and public disclosure of results.
2. An explanation from PrimeWater, the LGU, and the Water District on the cause and resolution of this issue.
3. Concrete actions to restore safe water access and accountability for those who failed us.
This is not just my story. This is the experience of many households in San Fernando. We are frustrated. We are disappointed. And we deserve answers.
Water is life. Public service is a duty.
