TARLAC CITY — Philippine National Police (PNP) and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency conducted an “Oplan Galugad” at Tarlac Provincial Jail.
This is pursuant to the directive of President Rodrigo R. Duterte of eradicating the proliferation of illegal drugs in the country including jail facilities.
“Oplan Galugad is regularly conducted not only to eradicate the proliferation of illegal drugs but also other contrabands including bladed weapons and illegal items inside the jail facilities which may cause harm not only to the inmates but also to the jail personnel,” PNP Provincial Director Police Colonel Jesus Rebua said.
Items confiscated include 10 cutters, 14 scissors, 12 disposable lighters, 4 screw drivers, 4-meter nylon rope, 2 pliers, 1 insecticide and 8 packs of blade.
“The surprise operation ended with fruitful results but prior to this, we had a brief discussion and coordination with the concerned agencies to continuously implement and strengthen this program,” he added.
“We will continue to implement this program as part of our mandate to enforce all laws and ordinances relative to the protection of lives, maintaining peace and order and investigating and preventing crimes,” Rebua furthered.
