CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga — National Commission on Indigenous Peoples (NCIP) teamed up with local government units, a civil society organization and a school in the provision of relief assistance to about 11, 920 Indigenous Peoples (IPs) households in Zambales.
“Zambales is home to most of the IPs in Central Luzon and our offices there faced a daunting task of coordination, information dissemination and delivery of basic services particularly food at the onset and during the enhanced community quarantine period,” NCIP Regional Director Ruben Bastero said.
Partners included the Assisi Foundation Development. Inc. and Lyceum of the Philippines University Manila.
“To date, relief operations are being conducted and our Provincial Office and Community Service Centers in Cabangan and San Marcelino are continuously coordinating information and logistics to and from all Indigenous Cultural Communities despite the limitation in human and economic resources,” Bastero added.
Resolution No. 41 of the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases placed the provinces of Aurora, Bataan, Bulacan, Nueva Ecija, Pampanga, Tarlac and Zambales as well as the cities of Angeles and Olongapo under General Community Quarantine from June 1-15.
