
SASMUAN, Pampanga – In response to the ongoing effects of Tropical Depression Crising and the southwest monsoon , the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), in coordination with the Provincial Government of Pampanga, delivered immediate relief assistance to affected families in the municipality of Sasmuan on Monday, July 21, 2025.
A total of 2,129 families received family food packs during the distribution led by DSWD Secretary Rex Gatchalian, Pampanga Governor Lilia “Nanay” Pineda, 2nd District Congresswoman Gloria Macapagal Arroyo, and Acting Vice Governor Fritzie David Dizon.

Despite heavy rains and flooded roads, the officials personally visited the communities to ensure that aid reached those in urgent need.
Secretary Gatchalian emphasized that President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. had given explicit instructions to deliver assistance directly to affected residents.

“We are here because the President asked me to deliver immediate and personal support to communities affected by calamities. In addition to food assistance, DSWD is also ready to provide financial aid for those in need of further recovery,” he said.
The relief operations were supported by DSWD Region III Director Venus Rebuldela, Sasmuan Mayor Catalina Cabrera, Board Member Atty. Claire Lim, Provincial Social Welfare and Development Officer Fe Manarang, PDRRMO Chief Janica Yambao, PG-ENRO Chief Arthur Punsalan, and personnel from the General Services Office (GSO).
This assistance forms part of the government’s continuing efforts to extend timely and compassionate service to vulnerable communities during times of disaster.
