The 46-million San Miguel-Dona Remedios Trinidad Bridge that connects the towns of San Miguel and Dona Remedios Trinidad in the province of Bulacan was opened during inaugural rites on Saturday.
The Sitio Brown bridge located in Malapad na Parang, Barangay Sibul, is now open to the public after three years of constructing with 105 linear meters, 3 spans, and 7.32 meters width. The vital bridge aims to improve accessibility and mobility by providing a better and safer road for the students and farmers in barangays of Sibul in San Miguel and Kalawakan in DRT.
The bridge was completed with the help and support of Bulacan 3rd District Representative Congresswoman Lorna Silverio.
The blessings and inauguration of the bridge were officiated by Rev. Fr. Rodolfo Colendrino together with Silverio, DRT Mayor Marita Flores, and her husband Vice Mayor Ronaldo T. Flores, and DPWH 2nd Bulacan Engineering District District Engineer Ramiro Cruz.
During the inauguration, the legislator stressed that the Sitio Brown bridge is very significant as it physically links the town of San Miguel and DRT.
“Students here have no reason now not to go to school because the dream bridge — the Sitio Brown — has already been finished and ready to use. The students will no longer cross the river using boat or balsa going to their respective schools,” Silverio said.
Silverio added that she had promised the people of Sibul and Kalawakan to build a bridge in the mountainous part of the province and it is part of her development plan in the towns of the third district of Bulacan.
For her part, Mayor Flores of DRT thanked Silverio because of their dream now to have a bridge that connects her town and San Miguel was already fulfilled.
“Congresswoman Lorna, please continue to help us and don’t tire by doing vital projects for our community,” Mayor Flores said.
“The completion of the new Sitio Brown Bridge is part of the department’s priority project thru the initiative of Congw. Lorna Silverio,” DPWH 2nd Bulacan Engineering District District Engineer Ramiro Cruz said.
DE Engr. Cruz said that the construction of Sitio Brown Bridge is also part of the ‘Build, Build, Build’ program of DPWH under President Duterte’s administration.
Also present in the event were San Rafael Vice Mayor Edison Veneracion, San Miguel’s Municipal Administration Ferdinand Tiongson, Brgy. Captain Laureano Ligon of Sibul, Brgy. Captain Milagros Manguiat, and teachers and students of Sibul Elementary School and John J. Russel Memorial High School.
