Iba, Zambales– The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) completed the P77-million flood control project in Castillejos, Zambales .
Second District Engineer Rosbe Dizon said the newly constructed flood mitigation structures are connected to the existing concrete slope protections along the Pamatawan River.
DPWH Zambales 2nd District Engineering Office implemented the construction of a 374-linear meter revetment wall on steel sheet pile foundation in the Looc Section of the Pamatawan River.
According to Dizon “We know that Habagat (Southwest monsoon) rains could raise water levels in major waterways in the province such as the Pamatawan River and could cause severe flooding,”.
“So, we hope this flood control project will provide additional protection to residents especially those living in low-lying areas,” Dizon added.
The project was funded under the 2022 General Appropriations Act and was finish ahead of schedule.
