Eight-Division World Champion and now Senator Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao arrived in Los Angeles Saturday night to euphoric fans.
The fighting senator, forced out of retirement, will undergo Phase 2 of his training at the Wild Card Boxing Club in Hollywood, Los Angeles. Pacquiao in LA arrived aboard Philippine Airlines Flight 102 at 7:30pm with his family and retinue.
Pacquiao had been advised by his Senate colleague, Senator Franklin Drilon, to pursue his boxing career while the Senate is on recess.
Pacquiao’s fight with World Boxing Organization (WBO) welterweight world champion Jessie Vargas (27-1, 10 KOs), of Las Vegas is scheduled on Nov. 5, Saturday at the Thomas & Mack Center on the campus of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.
If he wins the fight, Pacquiao will be a three-time WBO welterweight champion and the first senator to win a world title. –Jonard Aquino
